Results: ASU 382.50, Washington 375.95, Calgary 369.60, SoCal United 339.75. The Dawgs fought hard for every routine, and while there were some uncharacteristic mistakes, they kept their composure and finished every routine with poise and professionalism. Four falls were counted, but there was a season record of nine stuck dismounts! Team Captain, Nathan Tsuji was the only Husky to compete in the All Around (2nd place with a 76.50).
The Dawgs started on Vault yet again, earning a team score of 66.05. Jacob Jarrett placed 4th, leading the Huskies on vault with a 14.25. Jarrett performed his Yurchenko double twist nicely with a small hop on the landing.
The Huskies posted the highest Parallel Bar team score, beating the other teams with a 63.6. While this score continues to rise each meet, the true potential the Dawgs have here has yet to be unleashed. Junior Michael Sibley lead the Dawgs with yet another stellar performance, hitting his second best set of the season, scoring a 13.1.
High Bar is finally starting to come together as all five routines were hit, giving the Dawgs their highest High Bar score of the season – 60.65. Freshman Oscar Hemmert has proven to be our most reliable competitor on the High Bar. Oscar completely nailed his set, stuck his dismount, and placed 2nd in the entire meet with a huge 13.0! Oscar only had .7 in deductions!
The Dawgs hit four out of five routines on the Floor Exercise, giving them a season low – 62.85. This shows just how difficult it is having to count EVERY routine that is performed. Tsuji hit another beautiful set placing 1st in the entire meet with a 13.8. Tsuji stuck 4 out of 6 passes, showing just how important landings are on this event…
Pommel Horse has been a major focus for the team the past few weeks. The Huskies have been working very hard to improve their performance level on this event and its starting to show! The Dawgs posted their highest pommel score of the season, 60.55, and they even had to count a fall! Its so nice to see the hard work pay off and it should only get better from here. Freshman, Jared Danek and Nathan Tsuji tied for 3rd place in the meet, both scoring a 12.8! Danek has the highest difficulty on the team (4.7).
The Huskies have been improving their difficulty on the rings throughout the season and are looking very strong. They ended up with a 62.25 this go around due to a couple mistakes. Senior Jacob Jarrett was about to hit a beautiful set when his grip slipped and unfortunately couldn’t finish his routine. Jarrett came away with no injuries but the score had to count. The highlight of this event was Sibley, who hit his best ring routine of his career, 2nd place with a 13.3. Sibley has the highest difficulty on the team as well with a back-up-rise maltese, yamawaki, jonnason, honma to cross, and dismounts with a double layout with a full twist!
The next test will be the HOME MEET on March 10th at the Alaska Airlines Arena vs. Cal Berkley. GO DAWGS!!!
