Team Results: ASU won with a team score of 394.90. The Dawgs came in second with a 372.15, then followed by SoCal United (351.00) and NorCal United (200.05). The Huskies improved event scores on five events from their last competition, but struggled on pommel horse with the lowest event score of the year. This was the first competition of the season where each team competes only five athletes on each event and ALL five scores count toward the team score.
The Dawgs scored a season high 65.60 on the floor exercise. Nathan Tsuji lead the Dawgs with a 14.1, his highest score of the season. Alex May also hit a nice routine and scored a 13.15.
The team score on pommel horse was a dismal 51.65. The Huskies did have one very clean routine performed by Ben Bloom with a season high 12.2. Daniel Gordon wasn’t far behind with a hit routine and scored an 11.9.
The Dawgs improved their rings score by almost six points from their last competition, they scored a season high 65.05. Jacob Jarrett led the pack with a 13.6 with Ben Bloom right behind him scoring a 13.55. Ben Fisher competed rings for the first time this season, hit his set and scored a 13.3.
Vault has been and continues to be the highest event score for the Huskies. The Dawgs went big and ended up with their highest event score of the year, a 67.9. Jacob Jarrett scored the highest in the entire meet with a 14.2 on his double twisting Yurchenko. Michael Sibley had the second highest score for the Huskies scoring a 13.85 on his Kasamatsu stretched with a full twist. Nathan Tsuji is now vaulting again after a long recovery from a high ankle sprain. He performed a laid out Kasamatsu with only a small step on the landing. Tsuji scored a 13.55.
Nathan Tsuji has been very consistent as the Huskies leader on the parallel bars. Tsuji won the meet with a 13.55. Daniel Gordon and Michael Sibley both hit their routines and scored a 12.95. Even with a couple of falls the Dawgs were still able to achieve the highest event score this season, a 63.25.
The Huskies struggled on the horizontal bar. Nathan Tsuji had the only hit routine scoring a 13.15. the other four routines were riddled with large errors and two falls. Even though there were so many mistakes, the team score, a 58.7, still went up from the last competition. This means that the Dawgs will have a huge team score increase when more routines are hit in the future. Freshman Alex Forcos made his debut as a Husky. Forcos scored an 11.25.
The Dawgs took 1st and 2nd place in the All Around! Nathan Tsuji took home the gold with an all around score of 78.75. This was Tsuji’s second time competing all around for the Huskies this year. He will need one more all around score before he can be nationally ranked. Ben Bloom took the Silver scoring a 75.9. This is Bloom’s highest all around score of the season and is now ranked 27th in the nation. ranked
