Pac12 Review

The Huskies came in 4th in this year’s PAC 12 Invitational, scoring a total team score of 366.40. It was a rocky meet for the Dawgs as there were some uncharacteristic mistakes made on some of our best routines.

Rings was the first event where there were many small mistakes made. The event score ended up at a season low 59.40. Senior Captain Ben Bloom earned the Husky’s highest ring score with a 12.30.

One of the highlights of the meet was how clean the Dawgs looked on vault. They hit 5 out of 6 vaults to earn a season high event score of 67.45. Freshman Jameel Ali lead the pack on vault with a 13.85 on his Kasamatsu 1/1.

The Dawgs then went to parallel bars and nailed 5 of 6 routines and scored a 64.00, another season high! Bloom hit one of the cleanest sets of his career (13.1) with Senior Jacob Jarrett also hitting one of the cleanest sets of his career (12.95).

High bar was next and the Dawgs did well, but without two of our biggest scores due to Sophomore Oscar Hemmert’s broken foot and Junior Alex May’s wrist sprain, it turned out to be another low event score – 57.80. The highlight on high bar had to be Freshman Adam Kerwin’s debut for the Huskies where he successfully competed a triple back dismount for the first time!

The Dawgs seemed to fall apart on the floor only scoring a 58.95. Counting 3 falls is very uncharacteristic for this team, especially on this event.

The team scored a 58.80 on their last event, pommels. Freshman Luka Sisauri hit his best routine this season and scored a 13.65. Sisauri is now ranked 8th in the Nation on Pommel Horse with an average score of 13.55!

The team now has just a few days to recover before getting back to it this Friday against Minnesota, at Minnesota.

Good luck, and GO DAWGS!
