Post Meet Review vs. SC United

On Saturday, March 27th, the Dawgs had a virtual showdown with Southern California United.  The Dawgs came out on top with a total team score of 362.70 to SC United’s 326.60.

The way virtual competitions work is very different than the typical competition.  The teams compete from their home gyms, and the judges judge from home, so its a very different environment that took a little getting used to. The Huskies got off to a rough start on their first two events, floor and pommels.

On Floor, the top scorer of the meet was Husky Senior, Alex Forcos (12.4).

Pommel horse had a few uncharacteristic falls from a couple of our best swingers, but Sophomore Adam Kerwin hit a very clean set (12.7).

Once the guys got the hang of the flow of the meet, they seemed to gain their confidence and started hitting their routines.  The Dawgs hit 5/5 routines on the Rings with Senior and Co-Captain Ben Bloom hitting big (13.2) and winning the event!

Junior Oscar Hemmert came up big for the Dawgs on vault (13.6), winning the meet with his Kasamatsu with a 1/2.

P-bars we had 4 out of 5 hits, and taking the event title was Junior Connor Pattison (12.7).

The Dawgs finished up with 5 awesome routines on High Bar.  One of the best highlights of the entire night was Connor Pattison’s STUCK triple back dismount, but the event winner went to a very clean set by our own Oscar Hemmert (12.6).

The Huskies are now looking forward to a virtual rematch against Arizona State on Saturday, April 24th for the first ever GymAct West Conference Championship.
