On Saturday July 6th, three of our own Huskies competed at the USA Qualifier to try to earn a spot to compete at the 2019 USA Championships.
Ben Bloom and Michael Sibley competed in the all around, and Michael Sloat competed as a pommel horse specialist. Bloom placed 15th All Around with a 72.05, and earned points on pommels (6), rings (6), and vault(3), a total 15 points. He didn’t compete his best as he only hit three of his events, “I was a lot more nervous this time around because I knew if I hit i would have a shot at qualifying” Bloom said. Sibley was able to earn 4 points on his best event, the rings. Sloat didn’t hit his pommel set like he had hoped but gained some very valuable experience at this competition.
“People are definitely taking notice of the quality of our gymnastics at these high level competitions, we just have to put it all together and hit routines like we have in practice.” -Coach Mora
