Giancarlo Steps Down as Head Coach

Dear Washington Men’s Gymnastics Alumni, Friends and Family,

It is with great respect and surprise that Head coach Giancarlo Mora has decided to resign as Head Coach of the Washington Men’s Gymnastics team.  The Washington Men’s Gymnastics Foundation is extremely grateful for Giancarlo’s commitment and contributions to the team.  Under Giancarlo’s leadership the team accomplished three 2nd place team finishes at USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals and produced multiple All-American status athletes. Additionally, he led two athletes to the USA Gymnastics Winter Cup National ranking event.  Giancarlo’s impact was especially pronounced on the team’s weakest events of pommel horse and high bar, where he increased the team’s Collegiate national ranking by two places on those events.  He also increased the team size over the last four years, giving Washington Men’s Gymnastics team greater depth. The Washington Men’s Gymnastics Team and Foundation are grateful for Giancarlo stepping into the head coaching role with little notice at a time when there was not a written definition of his role.  He coached true to his values and maintained his integrity which we respect.  We wish him success in his future endeavors and are thankful for his 5+ years of coaching, recruiting, promoting and making this team his number one priority!!!

  1. It is indeed a mystery to fans as to Giancarlo’s departure. Is there any social media or other means to follow his next steps in the gymnastics world?
